WMC Charity Support
Wessex Male Choir has supported various charities in the Swindon area, such as Home Start, Friends of New Court Surgery (Wootton Bassett), The Tuesday Club (Malmesbury), and Burton Hill House School. The choir also supports national charities such as the Parkinson's Disease Society and the Alzheimer's Society. The following are some recent examples of our support.
Parkinson's Disease Society
An intrepid band from WMC sang their way around the London Marathon on 22nd April 2007! They took part in aid of the Parkinson's Disease Society
The choir raised over £31,000, and a cheque was presented to the Parkinson's Disease Society by the Mayor of Swindon on 10th July 2007.

The concert was welcomed by actress Lynda Bellingham who said "My mother had Alzheimer's. It is a cruel disease with, as yet, no known cure. I know how important it is to provide practical help and advice for people living with dementia as well as their carers. That's why I'm urging as many people as possible to buy tickets for what will be an amazing evening of music by Wessex Male Choir. Funds raised will go to the local Swindon branch of the Alzheimer's Society and directly help people in your area. Thank you very much for your support." |
Prospect Hospice
As part of the first ever World Hospice and Palliative Care Day, Wessex Male Choir presented a "Voices for Hospices" concert for Prospect Hospice in October 2005 at Wroughton Parish Church, raising nearly £600. "This was a magical evening of beautiful music to lift the spirits whilst helping to support Prospect as we continue to offer our unique care to patients and their families. A huge thank you goes to Wessex Male Choir for providing such a wonderful evening's entertainment and to everyone who came along to support them and the Prospect Hospice" said Rachel Taylor of the Hospice. Garry Robson, Chairman of the Wessex Male Choir said "We were absolutely delighted to sing for this special event and show our support for the work carried out by the dedicated team at the Hospice".
