In 2005 WMC welcomed the Linkoping University Male Choir from Sweden who were a great success. In this return visit they were joined by the ladies of Linkoping to form a mixed choir for our 9th International concert.

The Rotary Club of Swindon North presented a concert in aid of youth projects in Highworth, including the 1st Highworth Scout Group Centenary Fund.

Wessex Male Choir were joined by soprano Louise Lloyd and double bass soloist Anthony Williams.


Jersey International Choral Festival, 9-12th October 2008

Wessex took part in the Jersey International Choral Festival, winning the Male choir class of the competition. The choir also enjoyed concerts with the Harmony Men of Jersey and other choirs taking part in the festival.

WMC's 7th International Concert with one of Belgium's most successful choirs - the Lirica Youth Choir.

The Lirica youth choir was founded in 1972. Under the direction of its present conductor, Jos Venken, the choir has won prizes such as the first prize summa cum laude in The European Music Festival for Young people in Neerpelt.

Wessex were joined by the Basingstoke Male Voice Choir for their 4th visit to the annual Cricklade Festival.


Cheltenham Festival of Performing Arts, 17th May 2008

Wessex were awarded first place in 3 categories of this competition. We were also awarded the coveted Gold Cup for the outstanding choir of the festival.

WMC'S 6th annual international concert. The special guests were the University of Maryland Chamber Choir from the USA. This ensemble is the University School of Music's most select choral ensemble specializing in music from Renaissance, Baroque, and contemporary eras

Warneford School Christmas concert. This was a return visit after the school choir joined WMC at it's Swindon concert in May 2006.


Old Town, Swindon, 2nd December 2006

WMC's first annual Christmas concert, together with guests The Janice Thompson Youth Singers and the world-famous Froncysyllte Male Choir from North Wales.

The Froncysyllte Male Choir was recently featured on the BBC news about their hopes to feature in a Hollywood movie!


Malmesbury Abbey, Wiltshire, 18th November 2006

This concert took place in the wonderful setting of Malmesbury Abbey, to benefit The Tuesday Club. This organisation meets in Malmesbury to provide weekly recreation and companionship for people whose chances of social contact are limited by infirmity.


Folkstone, 28th October 2006

This concert was at the invitation of Snowdown Colliery Male Choir, in support of the Rainbow Trust. Snowdown were popular guests of WMC in June 2005 at the Cricklade Festival, and both choirs enjoyed another joint concert.


Llangollen International Eisteddfod, 8th July 2006

WMC were delighted to take second place in the Male Choir competition. Our first visit was in 2004, when we were placed third.

WMC performed at St Sampson's church, together with close-harmony group "Ten in a bar".


Wyvern Theatre, Swindon, 13th May 2006

Wessex hosted the world-famous Pontarddulais Male Choir from Wales. The 100 strong Choir are the only choir ever to win 1st place at the National and International Eisteddfod in the same year (2004). The choirs were also joined by the Warneford School Choir from Highworth.

The choirs were delighted to support The Alzheimers Society.

A joint concert of WMC with the The Sons of Orpheus - The Male Voice Choir of Tucson, Arizona, USA

This sellout concert was the first major event in Swindon by WMC and established it as one of the premier choirs in the area.

The Sons of Orpheus included this concert in a short UK tour that included the International Eisteddfod at Llangollen. They ably demonstrated the reasons for their international reputation with a program including Verdi, Wagner and Janacek, followed by a selection of cowboy songs, culminating in the theme from Rawhide!
